Coating Services in Shah Alam, Malaysia

PPG & Whitford Quality Approved Coater

Industrial Coating Services for Malaysian Manufacturers

Fukar Sdn. Bhd. is an authorised PPG Quality Approved Coater and Whitford Quality Approved Coater (QAC) — one of a small number of facilities in Malaysia certified to apply Xylan® fluoropolymer coatings to OEM specification. Our coating lines operate from a 12,000 sq. ft. facility in Shah Alam, Selangor, serving manufacturers in the oil & gas, automotive, electronics, and construction sectors since 2005.

Our three coating processes — Xylan fluoropolymer, fluoropolymer, and zinc flake — address a range of surface protection requirements from non-stick and low-friction finishes to extreme corrosion resistance for high-strength fasteners. All coatings are processed under ISO 9001:2015 quality management with full traceability from job order to test certificate.

Fukar's coating capability has been proven at scale: we applied Xylar 2 and Xylan 1424 coatings to over 200 tonnes of fasteners for the PNG LNG project — one of Southeast Asia's largest infrastructure contracts. Our technical team can assess your substrate, service environment, and specification requirements to confirm the optimum coating system.

Technical Reference

Coating Performance Comparison

Choosing the right coating depends on your primary performance requirement — whether that is corrosion protection, friction reduction, chemical resistance, or temperature tolerance. Use the table below as an initial guide. Our technical team will confirm the best system for your substrate, environment, and OEM specification.

Fukar is one of a limited number of facilities in Malaysia holding both PPG QAC and Whitford QAC certification. This matters when your procurement specification references Xylan® by name.

Discuss Your Specification
Process Key Property Salt Spray Application
Xylan® Coating Non-stick, low friction, 260°C 500+ hrs Oil & gas fasteners, automotive bolts
fluoropolymer Coating Chemical resistance, non-stick Good Food processing, industrial equipment
Zinc Flake Extreme corrosion resistance 1,000+ hrs High-strength fasteners, structural bolts

Why Specify Fukar for Your Coating Requirement

Dual QAC Certification

Fukar holds both PPG Quality Approved Coater and Whitford Quality Approved Coater status — covering Malaysia and Thailand. When your specification calls for Xylan® by brand name, Fukar is one of a limited number of certified facilities in Malaysia qualified to apply it to OEM standards.

Proven at Scale

Our coating capability has been validated on major industrial projects. For the PNG LNG project, Fukar applied Xylar 2 ceramic coating and Xylan 1424 fluoropolymer coating to over 200 tonnes of fasteners — demonstrating consistent quality across high-volume, critical-service applications.

Technical Consultancy

Our technical team works with design engineers and procurement managers to confirm the correct coating system for each application — including Xylan grade selection, film thickness specification, substrate preparation, and compatibility with existing surface treatments such as zinc plating or phosphating.

Common Questions

Coating Services — Frequently Asked Questions

Questions from procurement managers, design engineers, and QA teams about our Xylan, fluoropolymer, and zinc flake coating processes.

Ask a Technical Question
What is Xylan coating?

Xylan is a brand of fluoropolymer coating manufactured by Whitford Corporation. It is applied as a liquid paint system containing fluoropolymer or other fluoropolymers, providing non-stick, low-friction, and corrosion-resistant surfaces on industrial fasteners and components. Xylan coatings are rated to 260°C continuous service and are widely used in oil & gas, automotive, and food processing applications. Fukar is an authorised Whitford Quality Approved Coater for Xylan products.

What is the difference between Xylan and fluoropolymer coating?

Xylan is a proprietary fluoropolymer coating brand from Whitford that incorporates fluoropolymer along with specific polymers and binders engineered for enhanced adhesion and defined performance grades — such as Xylan 1424 for corrosion protection and Xylar 2 for ceramic-reinforced high-temperature service. fluoropolymer coating is a broader category using polytetrafluoroethylene as the primary material. Fukar applies both Xylan (as a certified Whitford QAC) and fluoropolymer coating systems, and can advise which is appropriate for your specification.

What is zinc flake coating used for?

Zinc flake coating is used to protect high-strength fasteners, structural bolts, and oil & gas components from corrosion. It provides 1,000+ hours salt spray resistance per ASTM B117 through a mechanically applied zinc-aluminium flake system. The critical advantage over electroplating is no hydrogen embrittlement risk — making it safe for use on high-tensile fasteners (Grade 10.9 and above) where hydrogen absorption can cause brittle fracture.

Does Fukar hold Whitford QAC certification?

Yes. Fukar Sdn. Bhd. holds Whitford Quality Approved Coater (QAC) certification covering Malaysia and Thailand operations. This certification confirms that Fukar's application processes, equipment calibration, and quality controls meet Whitford's standards for applying Xylan® and other Whitford fluoropolymer products. Fukar also holds PPG Quality Approved Coater status. Both certifications are available for review during supplier qualification audits.

What temperature can Xylan coating withstand?

Standard Xylan fluoropolymer coatings are rated to 260°C (500°F) continuous service. Xylar ceramic-reinforced grades offer enhanced thermal performance for applications exposed to higher operating temperatures such as exhaust system fasteners and engine components. Fukar's technical team can recommend the appropriate Xylan grade for your specific temperature and service environment requirements.
